Traditional Vintage Guatemalan Huipil
- Floral embroidered pattern (on both the front and back) on red striped presumably cotton heavy fabric
- 32-1/2 inches from armpit to armpit and and 23 inches from shoulder to bottom hem when laid flat
- The rectangular construction with straight seams is consistent with traditional Maya garment construction.
- Likely made for daily wear, folk dance costume, or the tourist market
- Rounded neck with heavy embroidery decoration
- based on measurements and how it appears on me (a petite M adult female), I would say this is and adult female LARGE
- quite thick material - garment weighs significantly almost a pound
- affordable price is reflective of: overall wear consistent with age; some loose/frayed threads; a stain that we did not attempt to launder out (and may not come out); woven section that appears pulled or inconsistently manufactured
- From smoke-free home
