Item Description & History. 

Up for auction is an exceptional piece of West Coast roadside Americana: an authentic, vintage "SLOW" highway warning sign. This is a highly desirable aluminum-blank variant from the peak of the reflector-button era. The back of the sign features the original factory-applied black stencil reading "CA-66," officially dating its production to 1966. This represents the final generation of physical button signs fabricated by the state before transitioning permanently to flat reflective sheeting. 

Condition & Collector Integrity

• Reflectors: This sign retains all but one of its original plastic Stimsonite honeycomb button inserts. A few have cracks as shown in the close-up pictures. One reflector is missing, as shown in the pictures. 
  
  
• Original Patina: This sign is in good, survivor condition. It displays honest character from years of field service, including mild surface oxidation, light perimeter scrapes along the black border, some scratches, and authentic wear around the mounting holes.

•  This sign has not been cleaned, polished, touched up, or repainted. It retains its genuine, weathered historical patina.
