Item: Lot of 2 Antique Porcelain Figural Pincushion Half-Dolls Pose: Complementary open-arm "flapper beauty" or "bathing beauty" pose. Origin: Japan (Both clearly stamped "MADE IN JAPAN" on the unglazed bottom base rim, as seen in Image 42). Estimated Era: Circa 1920s–1930s (Art Deco) Description: Offered for auction is a complementary lot of two early 20th-century porcelain pincushion half-dolls. While sharing the same stylish Art Deco "flapper" aesthetic and a highly desirable open-arm pose, these are not a matched pair, as they differ significantly in size. Both women feature matching dark molded hair topped with wide, flat-brimmed lavender-pink hats and wear matching pale pink shawls draped over simple white bodices. Doll 1 (Taller): Stands approximately 3.5" tall (Image 43, right). Doll 2 (Shorter): Stands approximately 2.75" tall (Image 43, left). Both bases feature a hollow interior with four molded sewing holes around the bottom edge, designed originally for attachment to decorative fabric pincushions, powder puffs, or vanity boudoir accessories. Condition Report: Porcelain & Glaze: Both dolls are in beautiful antique condition with bold, high-gloss porcelain. No structural chips or cracks detected on either piece. There are minor manufacturing imperfections on the white base rim of the shorter doll (Image 41). Paint & Facial Features: Both pieces sport crisp facial paint, including defined eyes and red lips (detailed in Images 44 and 45). The dark hair and pink shawl/hat colors remain vibrant. There is minor, historic wear to the dark glaze on the raised right arm of the taller doll. Bases & Marks: The unglazed bottom rims show typical, light shelf aging and discoloration. Both pieces retain a clear blue/black ink stamp that reads "MADE IN JAPAN" on the reverse base rim (Image 42). All molded sewing holes remain fully intact.
