Up for sale is a beautiful vintage Japanese Dōchū-zaiku (銅虫細工) hand-hammered copper bowl, showcasing regional metalwork craftsmanship from Hiroshima.
This piece features a textured, hand-beaten surface with characteristic "oil-drop" dimpling. The rim is scalloped and reinforced with five decorative brass/mixed-metal corner clips. The center basin highlights an intricate, silver-soldered floral motif.
The reverse features two distinct, authentic hallmarks:
  1. Artist Mark (Vertical Kanji): Hand-engraved "銅虫 江山作" (Dōchū Kōzan-saku), attributing the craftsmanship directly to the master artisan studio of Kōzan.
  2. Quality Designation (Horizontal Stamp): Stamped "特廣免" (Tokukō-men), a traditional right-to-left pre-war/mid-century style mark indicating a "Special Hiroshima License" approval for premium local crafts.
Condition:
Vintage condition with patina. Has some spots of discoloration on the inside bowl as shown in the pictures. The corner brackets are tightly intact. Two of the feet do have some wobble, one foot is solid. No major dents or deep scratches. Please view all photos closely to appreciate the detailed handiwork. The bowl shown in the pictures goes to the winning bidder.
