This listing is for an antique print on velvet fabric picturing Sir Herbert Samuel (1870-1963)
, the first High Commissioner of Palestine (1920-1925). Herbert Louis Samuel was a British politician and the first Jew to serve as a Cabinet Minister.
This is most certainly from around the time period he was the High Commissioner of Palestine. This may have been made by a Bezalel artist but it is unsigned.
This print measures 11 5/8" x 7 1/2". It is marked on the front "SIR HERBERT SAMUEL". On the back it is marked "MADE IN JERUSALEM".
This is in wonderful condition for its age but with a few loose threads around the edge and some curling around the corners. This is from a smoke-free home.
