Wonderful original antique tintype photograph showing a family of four posed together in an elaborate studio rowboat scene.

The portrait features a man, woman, boy and girl posed inside a faux boat complete with an oar, painted water and scenic landscape backdrop. The women's dramatic period hats and clothing add tremendous Victorian character to the image.

Believed to date to approximately the 1890s.

Unusual studio-prop tintypes like this are especially interesting because they go beyond the traditional seated portrait and capture some of the imaginative photography setups available during the late 19th century.

The tintype shows expected age-related wear including scratches, surface marks, abrasions and areas of image loss. There is a prominent diagonal surface line through the lower portion of the image. The reverse shows wear and remnants of an old label or mounting material. Please review all photographs carefully for condition.

A fantastic and unusual Victorian family tintype with a highly collectible rowboat/nautical studio theme.
