Original pencil and wash sketches of a beached sailing boat and a riverside scene with cattle

Undated but early to mid-19th century. Two original drawings on wove album paper, one rectangular and one oval, both mounted with applied gilt brocade borders. Executed in pencil, wash and body colour. Unsigned, but extracted from a commonplace book compiled during the first half of the 19th century. Size: sheets approx. 34 × 22 cm; drawings approx. 21 × 13 cm and (oval) 23 × 16 cm.

Condition

Very Good. Minor age-related handling marks and foxing to blank margins of sheets. The artworks themselves remain clean and visually striking. Please view gallery or request a more detailed report if required.
