A Scottish Art Deco Treasure: Sydney Latimer Edinburgh

Up for sale is a rare and characterful time capsule from Sydney Latimer of Edinburgh, a renowned name in Scottish luxury during the mid-20th century. This watch is a perfect example of the Art Deco "Cushion" era, blending Swiss mechanical reliability with British elegance.

The "Diamond" Sector Dial

The standout feature is the silvered diamond-patterned (guilloché) center, surrounded by a crisp sector track and bold Arabic numerals. The original blued-steel hands still catch the light beautifully, and the recessed sub-seconds at 6 o'clock provides that classic vintage silhouette.

Condition Report

Dial: Exceptional original condition. Very little of the spotting or "foxing" usually seen on 80-year-old dials.

Case: Original nickel/chrome-plated cushion case. Shows honest wear and "brassing" consistent with its age, giving it a fantastic authentic patina.

Hands: Original heat-blued steel. They retain a deep, vibrant blue hue.

Movement: Quality Swiss-made manual wind movement. It winds smoothly and is ticking away with that distinctive vintage heartbeat.

Crystal: Acrylic crystal is in good shape, clear and free of major cracks.

Strap: Fitted on a vintage-style black leather strap that has seen some wear, adding to the "found" aesthetic of the piece.
