Please note that I will be separately listing two lace needle work pieces today.
This is what I believe to be a pair of antique handmade off-white Belgian Point de Venise lace sleeves.
I am uncertain as to exactly how old these are, but they definitely have very good age. I believe though that they date sometime from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1850s – 1890s. Please use your judgment.
They each measure 11 inches tall on one side and 8 1/2 inches tall on the other side (28 cm, 21.6 cm). They are 3 1/2 inches wide at the top and 5 1/4 inches wide at the bottom (8.9 cm, 13.3 cm).
They each look like they have darkened over time, given the unevenness of the color. Still, they look like they’re in very good condition overall.
I found that these are hand stitched with a finished Picot edge.
I did some preliminary research to come to all of these conclusions. I will have to say though, please use your judgment.
I do know that the work on these is incredibly intricate and detailed and quite beautiful.
