This is an enchanting regimental sweetheart brooch or badge, for The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), dating from the FIRST World War, (1914-1918).

  • It features the St. Andrew's cross in a central white enamel circle with the motto "Nemo Me Impune Lacessit" (No one provokes me with impunity).
  • The badge is SOLID Sterling silver with blue, red and white enamel details highlighting "Royal", "Highldrs", "Black", and "Watch".
  • It measures 31mm X 26mm and weighs a chunky 5 grams.
  • They were purchased by servicemen to leave with wives, mothers, or girlfriends as romantic keepsakes before deploying overseas.
  • This is in an excellent condition, with all enamel intact. There is tarnish and patina to the silver, which I prefer, although this could be polished up gleaming and new-like, if preferred.
  • Stamped 'STERLING and T.L.M. for Thomas Le Mott to the rear.
  • It is a stunning and most collectable piece of militaria.
