An antique French copper saucepan or "Casserole Russe" in French, with solid cast iron handle, copper rivets, beveled edges, a subtle hand hammered finish, and fresh tin lining. This antique copper saucepan has no obvious manufacturer markings on it but there is a subtle X next to the handle-likely the mark used by a previous owner of identifying the pan as belonging to them. Based off the construction features of the pan and the dot in the center of the pan made from when the coppersmith used a compass to mark out the pattern of the pan on a sheet of copper, this antique saucepan was likely made during the mid to late 1800s.

The size of this copper saucepan coupled with the reactive nature of copper helps it excel at quickly melting butter. This small saucepan can also be used for making sauces or gravy's or for heating and serving au jus due to the excellent conductivity of copper cookware.

Dimensions of the saucepan are:
Diameter of 12cm or 4.75 inches
Sidewall height of 6.5cm or 2.375 inches
Length including the handle of 25cm or 9.875 inches
Copper thickness of 1.6mm at the rim
Weight of 603g or 1 pound 5 ounces

This is an antique item and it has some marks from routine use. In addition to some small dings and minor scratches on the exterior of the pan, the rim has a small dent but the saucepan is in otherwise great condition. With a fresh tin lining, this antique copper saucepan is not only a great decorative item but a functional piece of copperware as well.
