Franconia No. 1 Bond is a vintage watermark found on commercially manufactured paper used in historical artist sketchbooks, such as those archived in the Franklin Furnace Archive (New York) digital collections.

"Bond" paper traditionally refers to a durable, high-quality writing or printing paper often used for business correspondence and documents.

Watermark Meaning: The "No. 1" designation historically indicated a high grade or top tier of rag or pulp content produced by the paper mill.
