Stunning, authentic mid-century modern vertical floral still life oil painting by celebrated Texas artist and interior designer Charlavan Baker Hart (1934–2020). Hand-signed clearly by the artist in the lower corner, this original work showcases her signature mastery of texture, color theory, and bold expression.

The painting captures a striking, vertical bouquet of vibrant yellow poppies (or anemones) paired beautifully with deep blue accent roses. Set against an atmospheric, heavily blended blue backdrop, the artwork utilizes a thick, sculptural impasto technique (palette knife and heavy brushwork) that gives the petals a lively three-dimensional texture. The piece is presented in its glorious, original 1970s period-correct wooden frame. About the Artist: Charlavan Baker Hart (1934–2020) was a highly accomplished and multi-faceted American artist, model, author, and interior designer. Her remarkable life spanned the worlds of high fashion, pageantry, and fine art. Born in Perkins, Oklahoma, she began her career as a professional model and secretary in Oklahoma City. Her grace and poise led her to success in the pageant circuit, proudly representing Oklahoma on the grand stage of the Miss America pageant. Following her marriage, she relocated to Los Angeles where she continued modeling while deeply immersing herself in her lifelong passion for oil painting. During the 1970s, Charlavan established a premier design house and art gallery in the Dallas/Fort Worth "Mid-Cities" region of Texas (spanning Hurst, Euless, and Bedford). Renowned for her sophisticated understanding of color theory and mid-century aesthetics, she developed a distinct studio style characterized by high-contrast floral motifs, rich color matching, and heavy impasto palette-knife textures designed to harmonize with the luxury home trends of the decade. Her personally hand-signed pieces remain highly sought-after, standalone examples of authentic 1970s regional impressionism with a truly unique, glamorous heritage.
