Authentic Japanese Kutani-yaki eggshell porcelain tea cup and saucer set. Expertly hand-painted during the Meiji period, this delicate set features a classic kacho-ga (bird-and-flower) scene depicting a pair of mandarin ducks—traditional symbols of lifelong fidelity and marital bliss.The scene is beautifully framed by lush pink peonies, chrysanthemums, and a fine, hand-applied red and gold geometric brocade border along the rims. The porcelain is true "eggshell" exceptionally thin and translucent when held up to a light source. The base of the pieces features the hand-painted two-character red mark reading "九谷" (Kutani).

Excellent / Pristine Antique Condition. NO chips, cracks, hairlines, or restorations. Minor, honest wear to the gilt/enamel accents consistent with age and gentle handling over the last 100+ years. Please inspect the photos carefully as they form part of the description.
