An impressive European artisan-made bedframe dating from approximately 1950. Crafted from richly figured mahogany, it features graceful curved lines, decorative moulding and finely detailed gilt-bronze mounts in the elegant Louis XVI Revival style.
The warm mahogany-brown finish is complemented by gold-tone floral garlands, classical medallions, scrolling ornaments and neoclassical decorations across the headboard and footboard.
The centre of the footboard features an individually hand-painted oval oil scene depicting elegantly dressed figures in a peaceful pastoral landscape with trees, greenery and water.
The soft colours and detailed brushwork contrast beautifully with the rich mahogany. Ornate gilt-bronze floral decoration frames the painting, making it the main artistic focal point of the bedframe.
