This listing is for a airmail cover and its original enclosed single-page typed letter from an employee of the Creole Petroleum Corporation in Caracas, Venezuela, sent to the company's New York headquarters in December 1948.
This correspondence is a direct follow-up to the October 1948 letter (offered separately). In this letter, the sender, "Bob", thanks "Al" for successfully executing the secret delivery of a ring to his pregnant wife, Marjorie, noting that "For once I was able to effect complete surprise and it came at a good time."
Bob has now successfully transferred from the grueling conditions of La Salina to his new post in Caracas. He provides a fascinating glimpse into the corporate environment of the era, noting that his new role in the Production Department under L.R. Hodell is strictly a staff function with no personnel to supervise. He reflects on his time in La Salina, stating it was "mostly about human nature and personnel relations," and dryly notes that "La Salina is not exactly the city of brotherly love as regards labor relations."
The letter closes with a reflection on the upcoming holidays as an expat in the tropics, stating that despite the pleasant climate of Caracas, "there is very little of what I call Christmas to be found down here."

"Dear Al,
I realize now that I won't get around to really writing a letter this year, but I wanted you to know that I appreciated very much your handling the matter of the ring for me. For once I was able to effect complete surprise and it came at a good time... My new job is quite interesting and much more pleasant than was the La Salina deal. I learned a lot in La Salina, but it was mostly about human nature and personnel relations. You may have heard that La Salina is not exactly the city of brotherly love as regards labor relations."
