Oxford Diecast Henschel 123 3./Stg 165. Immelmann Germany 1937 Airplane 1:72 Scale

The Henschel Hs 123A was a single seat biplane dive bomber and close-support attack aircraft developed and built by Henschel, a company previously engaged in building railway locomotives. It saw an opportunity for aircraft design and build after Hitler came to power in 1935 and the subsequent formation of the Luftwaffe.  The HS123 first took to the skies in 1936 and was flown by the German Luftwaffe in the Spanish Civil War.  It also saw service during the first stages of World War II but proved inadequate compared with rival aircraft.

The Henschel  Immelmann refers to a specific historic livery of the Hs-123A dive bomber which was operated by the Luftwaffe’s 7.StG 165 (7^th Squadron, 165^th Dive Bomber Wing). The unit was named in honour of the World War I Flying Ace, Max Immelmann.

Our 1:72 scale replica is decorated in the muted grey/green/chocolate brown camouflage scheme of the original with a pale blue underbody.  Even in 1937, the Swastika features in black out of white on the tail fin with the aircraft numbering 52+A13 painted along both sides of the fuselage.

Fu̎rstenfeldbruck has been a German air base since 1936. It was used by the Luftwaffe before and during World War II and by the US Air Force after the War before being returned to the German Government in 1957 and used as a base for the German Air Force.
