This lovely rectangular dinner plate was the creation of legendary art deco pottery innovator, Clarice
Cliff. The plate measures approximately 10 1/8" long and 8 1/4" wide. It features a lady reclining on the deck of a ship with a drink in hand. This listing is for the plate in the photo. It does have crazing lines throughout the glaze, but no chips, cracks, or repairs. (We purposely took the closeup photo under harsh lighting conditions to highlight the crazing lines). We have up to five of these plates available but they all have different signs of age and wear so we are listing them individually. Please contact us if you would like to see photos of all of them.
This item is one of a collection of several pieces that we
currently have listed for sale. Each piece is from the
"Cruiseware" series, a known design under the "Bizarre" umbrella which
was used for all Clarice Cliff designs starting in 1927 and continuing until the
mid-1930s. The Cruiseware series depict the adventures of a sassy young
lady in the 1930s on a cruise liner in one of six different
images. It was created for Royal Staffordshire, Great Britain.
