The photo came from a collection of autographed photos of American and British performers.

I've attached a photo of the back of one of the other cards in the collection which describes the response of an American Studio to the collector's request for an autograph.

Her practice, as was the practice of many such collectors, was to contact the studios or celebrities directly seeking autographs to add to her collection.

This photo is the size of a postcard.
