Generally excellent to fair condition (one head missing). Mounted on wooden bases and housed in a period split pine box.


These rare paper soldiers were most likely made in Strassbourg and date to the 1860s. They depict French imperial guardsmen of the imperial guard in the uniforms of the 1850s, under Napoleon III.


There is also a group of what appear to be hand drawn French troops in camp. They are smaller scale.


I think they’re exquisite and display very well.
