From a long‑held family estate collection. This is an original Gilbert / American Flyer “Plane-Away Crew Chief Accessory” No. 40173, complete with its original mid‑1950s box. The box features classic Gilbert artwork and branding, including the American Flyer logo and the “Erector Square, New Haven, Conn.” imprint.

The accessory remains inside the box. I did not remove it for photography to avoid stressing or tearing the vintage flaps. The box shows age wear but remains intact and displays well. This is a desirable piece for American Flyer collectors, Gilbert enthusiasts, and vintage toy display collections.
