This Vintage Smith-Corona Sterling portable manual typewriter with original carrying case and accessories shown was recently found in a great old St Louis estate. It is an L.C. Smith & Corona Typewriters Inc. machine, made in the USA, with the classic Floating Shift mechanism and round black keys with cream lettering.

The visible serial number appears to be 4A212610. Based on Smith-Corona serial number records and comparable 4A Sterling examples, the 4A series is a postwar Sterling series beginning in the mid-1940s. We believe this machine likely dates to the late 1940s, approximately 1947–1948.

This is a wonderful vintage piece for a collector, writer, office display, library, bookshop, photography prop, theater/set design, or restoration project.

We have not fully tested this typewriter with paper or ribbon. All of the keys press down. On some keys, the typebar/mechanism rises and then takes a second to return back down, so the machine may benefit from cleaning, adjustment, lubrication, or general servicing. We are selling it as found / as-is.

The outer carry case measures approximately 13.25” x 13.25” x 6”.

Includes the typewriter, fitted carrying case, and the loose accessories shown in the photos, including the brushes and small metal pieces/clips.

Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear. There are scuffs, scratches, dust, finish wear, oxidation/tarnish to metal parts, and wear to the carrying case. Untested beyond confirming that the keys press down and move. Please review all photos closely, as they are part of the description.
