This brass microscope by "R. & J. Beck Ltd" has its' fitted case and it is in, as found' condition.
It has the makers details engraved in to the base.
The brass has retained much of its' lacquering and black finish, however, there loss of finish and tarnishing in places.
There are no cracks or chips to the brass or chard rubber stage, that I can find, however, there are the usual scuffs, marks and scratches that you expect from a used item of this age.
The drawtube moves up and down with its' rack and pinion mechanism,, however, it is a little loose when it starts. The fine focus wheel appears to be working.
The double sided mirror has no chips or cracks, but there is a little loss of silvering.
It has two objectives, with the makers details and one eyepiece.
The understage element swings in and out smoothly.
The microscope measures approximately 26 cm (10 1/4 inches) tall.
The original fitted mahogany case has developed a nice depth of colour and patina, there is no key.
The microscope is sold as a collectors item and we have not tested it for clarity of image.
