A lovely example of a Victorian binding. 27 x 19cm.

Originally published in French in 1876, the author spent six years studying the architectural monuments, religious beliefs and symbols dating back to the earliest history, systems of civilisation and progress but his chief object was to visit the courts and countries ruled by native princes, great and small, of all ranks and all creeds to see for himself the modes of life and conditions among the stately chieftains of native India.
