SWITZERLAND 1925 TRIANGLE AIRMAIL VIGNETTE ON REGISTERED COVER GENEVA TO PARIS FRANCE

1925 (May 31), commercial registered airmail cover from Geneva to Paris, France, flown on the special aviation meeting service. The cover is franked with a 20c green Airmail definitive and a 40c violet and 10c green William Tell definitive, all tied or struck by purple rectangular event cachets inscribed "MEETING INTERNATIONAL D'AVIATION / GENÈVE / 31 MAI / 1 JUIN 1925". The face features a striking multi-colour triangular souvenir vignette for the event inscribed "SERVICE AÉRIEN SUISSE-FRANCE", a purple manuscript "Chargé" registration mark, an "Imprimés" print matter rate handstamp, a grey trilingual airmail label underlaid by a specialized paper registration label reading "R GENÈVE / AÉRODROME DE COINTRIN / No 829", and a bright magenta route cachet reading "POSTE AÉRIENNE / GENÈVE-PARIS". It is struck with a crisp black dispatch dater inscribed "GENÈVE / POSTE AÉRIENNE SUISSE" ['31.V.25•18'] and is addressed to F. Wernli at the Hôtel Regent in Paris. The reverse displays a printed sender name for F. Wernli from Zurich and a black circular Paris arrival backstamp dated June 3, 1925. The envelope is intact and in excellent commercial condition.

This registered pioneer cover documents the historic international aviation meeting held at Geneva's Cointrin airfield over the Whitsun weekend in May 1925. To mark the special event, a temporary postal station was established directly at the aerodrome, authorizing a commemorative airmail dispatch to France. The cover outlines an important international flight sequence across the French border, certified on the face by the highly desirable triangular aviation cinderella label and the bold trilingual airport tracking registry. This item serves as a prime example of high-grade interwar aerophilately, capturing the collaborative efforts of early Swiss and French aviation syndicates to promote permanent cross-border commercial routes.

Please examine lot scan carefully and please send any questions at least 48 hours before the auction closes. Please note that cover condition usually includes normal wear and tear to cover edges, opening tears and some creases and wrinkles. Only exceptional or extreme condition issues will be mentioned.
