This is a 19th-century antique polychrome original one of a kind terracotta double portrait bust depicting a man and a woman, possibly Austrian in origin. Goldscheider? Not sure.  This is not from a mould... it even has fingerprints impressed in the clay inside. The sculpture is in the form of a LONG Match Stick holder, made of polychrome painted terracotta with a handbuilt pottery production technique. It features a Continental European couple with wonderful clothes and expressions, created between 1850-1899. The artist is unknown, as the sculpture is unsigned. This is heavy for its size at 4 pounds 9 ounces. This  measures 10" tall, and 7.5" wide. He has part of his red bow missing and there is a bit of soot covering this. No other chips or damage. I've never attempted to clean it. I kept this on my mantle for years with those long match sticks stored in the vase area behind them. The people I got it from a long time ago used it for the same purpose.
