A vintage Mata Ortiz Large black pottery vase from Mexico signed by Monce Hernandez. It is a beautiful example of Mata Ortiz pottery. The pot has a beautiful metallic black finish that's been hand engraved with wonderful geometric and fish designs. The glaze has the slightest of a reddish cast to it.
The pot has a very elegant shape and size. Its rounded base is glazed, as is the mouth. The glaze inside stops just below the neck.
