Israel 1 Lira Pound Anglo Palestine Banknote 1948 #P-15a F
Description:
The Anglo Palestine Banknote Series is the first official series of the State of Israel.
The banknotes were issued by the Bank of Anglo-Palestine on paper stamped with colored dots as a means of preventing counterfeiting. Due to the short time left until the declaration of the state, the banknotes were printed on engravings with decorations that were generally prepared for printing Chinese banknotes.
Since the banknotes were printed before the establishment of the state, the names of the state and its currency were not yet known, and therefore the name of the State of Israel does not appear on the banknotes at all.
The English Pound was chosen as the currency type.

Security drawings; the words "One Palestine Pound" and "Anglo-Palestine Bank Ltd." In Hebrew and English.
