Offered, is an antique cast iron stove pipe register floor grate produced by "The Adams Company" of Dubugue, Iowa in its all-natural, unpainted state, showcasing the crisp casting of the iron without the loss of detail caused by heavy paint buildup.  The "Design Patent Aug. 31, 1897 along with "The Adams Company" Dubuque, Iowa is embossed around the edges of this magnificent floor grate.  Measuring at approximately 15-1/2" in diameter this grate is a prime example of late Victorian architectural hardware.  This grate combines a beautiful floral scroll outer motif with a geometric bullseye center.  This piece was designed to regulate heat flow between floors while serving as a high-end decorative element.  This grate is complete with three (3) pieces, is fully functional and can be easily taken apart for cleaning.  The cast iron material is in excellent condition with no visible damage such as chips, checks or repairs.  Finding these original grates in working condition with the damper intact is becoming increasingly difficult.
