This listing is for a unique collection of 9 items related to the Jewish Lad's Bridge on England. There are medals, belt buckles and a book. The Jewish Lads' Brigade was founded in 1895 to help Jewish boys from the East End of London and provide them with different alternatives.
1) Book: A Good Jew and a Good Englishman - The Jewish Lads' and Girls' Brigade 1895-1995. 208 pages. Measures 6 1/8" x 9 1/2". Excellent condition except for some wear to the dust jacket.
2) Lewis Emanuel Medal. Pictures a horse and rider on the back side. Measures 1 1/2" across. Hole at the top where it was at one time connected to a ribbon. Probably bronze.
3) 2 halves of 2 different belt buckles. Reads "JEWISH LADS BRIGADE" - Measures 2 5/8" x 2". Probably brass.
4) Medal with eyelet on top. Obverse says "QUARTERMASTER'S MEDAL - JEWISH LADS' BRIGADE" and pictures Ernest M. Joseph. Reverse says "ERNEST M. JOSEPH MEDAL - OLD COMRADES' ASSOCIATION". Measures 1 1/8" across. Probably bronze.
5) Medal with eyelet on top. Obverse says "ADJUTANT'S MEDAL - JEWISH LADS' BRIGADE" and pictures Ernest M. Joseph. Reverse says "ERNEST M. JOSEPH MEDAL - OLD COMRADES' ASSOCIATION". Measures 1 1/8" across. Probably bronze.
6) 1954-55 Medal & Ribbon - Obverse says "JLB" and pictures a Lion in the center with a crown above its head and olive or laurel branches on either side. Reverse says "DIAMOND JUBILEE YEAR 1954-55" and "JEWISH LADS' BRIGADE". The medal measures 1 1/8" across. With the ribbon it measures 3 1/2" tall. There are small tears and stains to the ribbon.
7) 2 slightly different versions of the Goldsmid medal that on the obverse says "MACCABEANS MEMORIAL TO COLONEL ALBERT GOLDSMID M.V.O." The reverse pictures a 7-branch menorah and says "FOR THE LONG SERVICE IN THE JEWISH LADS' BRIGADE". One of them has some dents on the edge of the back side. Measures 1 1/8" across.
