A beautiful vintage Japanese Sato Ginbari cloisonné vase, marked "JAPAN — SATO CLOISONNÉ" on the silver base rim. This piece showcases the prized pigeon blood red (akasuke) translucent enamel ground over an embossed silver foil (ginbari) base, creating the signature shimmering, dimpled depth that collectors prize in fine Japanese enamel work.
The front is decorated with a gracefully rendered yellow lily and slender green foliage, executed in fine silver-wire cloisonné with delicately shaded enamel petals. Polished silver-tone rims at the mouth and foot complete the elegant presentation.
Unlike the majority of akasuke ginbari cloisonné vases, which typically feature cherry blossoms, prunus branches, or bamboo motifs, this example showcases a single large yellow lily accompanied by a pink bud. This is a noticeably less common subject that required more intricate wirework and enamel shading than the standard decorative designs commonly encountered.
