The “Oka-zome” technique involves painting a fully fired white body with cobalt-based pigments and then firing it again in a kiln at the world's highest temperature of approximately 1,460 degrees Celsius. This process causes the pigments to sink into the glaze, creating a unique, deep indigo blue.
It is a technique that truly shines on the white porcelain of Okawara Pottery, renowned worldwide for its “white.”
Because the pigment is fused deep into the glaze, the surface is lustrous and smooth. It retains its beauty over time, ensuring you can use it with confidence.
