CLERKENWELL WATCHES

"ELEGANCE AND STYLE"

Offered for sale today is a delightful Elgin wristwatch watch from the 1940-50's.

Elgin were a very popular watch brand in the United States. They produced high end stylish and classy watches from 1894 to 1968. Their watches are becoming scarce and good examples are increasing in value.

The watch has been subject to a light restoration from our experienced watchmaker and case restorer.

This restoration includes a general clean and serviced, genuine

Elgin movement, that keeps good time and is correct for the case.

The watch has a professionally cleaned matt butler white dial with a very light patina with gold and black markers. The gold filled case is pretty much unmarked and has been polished.

This watch is original

(apart from the cleaning, new old stock crystal and new strap)

This watch came to us in very good order and had clearly been looked after.

A very smart watch that could be the perfect gift!

Please bear in mind that this is a smaller watch and is only really suitable for the smaller wrist.

Please bear in mind that vintage watches tend to be smaller than watches today (particularly 40's and 50's dress watches) so check our photographs.

Also these watches are vintage, so are only really suitable for "that special occasion" rather than full time use.

· The watch will be sent in a gift box/pouch ready to be that special surprise; all you need to do is wrap!

· Please remember you are buying a used watch so there will be signs of wear, such as slight marks to the case etc.

We offer a three month warranty during which time we will repair or give a full refund.

Condition will be as clearly shown as possible in the photographs.

· All of our watches have been professionally restored by  an experienced watchmaker and the level of this restoration will be indicated in the description and also the price.

· Mechanical watches from this era (20's to 50's) were accurate between 1 and 3 minutes per day (+ or -).

· These watches will not be waterproof and because of their delicate vintage nature, and also because effective waterproofing did not exist then!

· Nearly all vintage watches are mechanical in nature and as such with need to be serviced if in continual use. Our watches are checked and serviced prior to dispatch and will need to be serviced every year to prevent problems.

· If, in the rare event the watch does not run when you receive it we will offer a return service if the watch is returned within one month. The watch should be able to be repaired and returned to you. We strongly recommend however that you select the insured postal option when purchasing, to cover the watch, as we cannot be held responsible for damage in transit. We cannot offer returns purely due to you not liking the watch it has to be faulty or damaged.
