Up for auction is a fascinating piece of Welsh social and religious history. This is a large, antique 1841 Welsh Holy Bible (Y Bibl Cyssegr-Lan) [1], containing both the Old and New Testaments (Yr Hen Destament a'r Newydd).

This historic volume was printed in London by the renowned Royal Printers, George E. Eyre and Andrew Spottiswoode, for the British and Foreign Bible Society (established in 1804). The title page features Queen Victoria's royal coat of arms.

The true highlight of this copy is a beautifully preserved handwritten family record on the internal blank pages. Spine: The spine shows heavy wear, leather flaking, and cracking, with partial loss to the top and bottom of the backstrip. The gold-gilt "BIBLE" lettering remains partially visible.

Interior: Features beautiful 19th-century marbled endpapers. The interior pages show typical foxing (brown aging spots), toning, and light thumb-soil appropriate for a book of this age. The text block remains bound.
