Driving to Cornwall for a holiday yesterday from midlands & 250 miles in I got a red gearbox error on dash and no power.

Pulled over and there's a small oil leak under the car & it will go into all auto gears P/N/R/D but just revs when in drive and doesn't move.

Got recovered to holiday destination.. - £600

Turned car on today and now no errors on the dash and car moves around the carpark fine.

Mechanic came to check but can't do anything without pulling it apart and wants £800 in transport and diagnostic costs, before actually fixing anything.

Recovering it back home will cost £1500+

8 months ago had a new turbo which was £600

Friday it had 4 new tyres fitted which was £390 (these have done literally 250 miles from new, yes I am upset)

I'm only on holiday here until Thursday/Friday - make me a decent offer and it is yours or it's going to have to go to salvage yard.

It drove around the carpark today but that's as far as I went, I would recommend towing or trailing it away.

Another mechanic says it could be an engine oil leak that somehow got into the bell housing causing the gears to slip?

Engine oil is very low after it dumped it all at the side of the road.
