Considered one of the most important documentary photography books ever published, this book has become the defining collection of photographs from the period. Accompanied by 252 black-and-white photographic reproductions documenting the humiliation and destruction of European Jewry, with images of cities, ghettos, and camps. This multilingual photo album Published in Poland a few months after the end of World War II, when relatively little was known about the extent of the genocide committed against European Jews. In addition to a brief introduction, the 252 photographs contain shocking footage of Jewish settlements at the beginning of the German occupation, of the ghettos into which they were later crammed, and finally, photographs of the atrocities committed in forced labor camps and extermination camps. Another section of the book is devoted to Jewish partisan movements. The photographs were taken mainly as souvenirs by German soldiers, and are as shocking today as they were in 1945. Text in Polish, Russian, English, French, Yiddish, and Hebrew. Light edge wear and light creases on the front cover. Back cover stained with age and light stains. Light rust spots on the first few pages, with sporadic light rust spots on the few pages throughout. Most pages, including text and photos, are fairly clean. back and front cover back spine as well have some tears and stains.
