This antique basket has a unique story that I will chat a little about. It belonged to my aunt's grandfather, Myles Standish Slocum.
He was related to Roy Chapman Andrews, the explorer, and back in the 1920's Mr. Chapman sent three baskets to Mr. Slocum as a gift.
I am in possession of two of the baskets and have old photos of them on display at STR (Smoke Tree Ranch) where Mr. Slocum had a cabin.
This is some interesting information on the basket.
I always thought since Mr. Chapman was exploring the Gobi Desert that the basket may be from Asia.
It is a unique basket being very well made with a stand. The inside was dyed different colors by the maker and the outside was left natural.
If anyone has information on exactly where the basket may be from, I would truly appreciate it.
Thank You
