MANUSCRIPT COMMONPLACE BOOK

Alice Cumming

1911

This is a very nice antique commonplace book originally given to an Alice Cumming on her 18th birthday in September 1911 from her Aunt Rose, although she appears to have been an English Girl, the greater part of the content is written in French.

The book measures 20cm by 13cm approx. and contains around seventy-eight used pages, some of the entries are in English, but the majority are in French, written by several friends and done with a very neat hand with nice calligraphy to many of the pages.

The book was started in 1911 and was in use until January 1914,

There are a small number of paintings and drawings all of which are pictured.

The books covers are showing some wear else contents are in good condition
