Vintage GPO Telephone No. 250 Mark I – BT Linesman Test Phone

Original GPO (General Post Office) Telephone No. 250 Mk I, later used by BT engineers as a portable linesman’s test telephone.

A classic piece of British telecom history, used for line testing, fault finding, and temporary connection to telephone circuits.

• Original handset with “PRESS WHILE SPEAKING” marking (push-to-talk)
• Internal wiring diagram label intact
• Terminals for line and generator connection
• Complete in original brown Bakelite/plastic case with carry strap

Condition

• Untested – sold as seen
• Good overall vintage condition with expected age-related wear:
  • Surface marks and scuffs to case
  • Dust and light corrosion in places
• Internally appears largely complete (see photos)
