This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is an absolutely stunning, numbers matching C2 Corvette that is ready to be showed or enjoyed on a nice summer day. When Chevrolet debuted the Corvette in 1953, it was quite different than its current reputation as an American muscle sports car that everyone knows it as today. See the earliest Corvettes, sported 6 cylinder engines and automatic transmissions, and while they were sort of sporty it wasn't until the introduction of the V8 into the Corvette 1955 that American consumers began thinking of the Corvette as a performance-oriented sports car. As the years progressed, Chevy introduced more performance options such as a 4 speed manual transmission and positraction rear end, as well as racing options such as big brakes and a big tank. While Corvettes retained their curvy European-inspired silhouette through the early 60s, some would argue that they finally received their iconic body lines

Vehicle Description

While Corvettes retained their curvy European-inspired silhouette through the early 60s, some would argue that they finally received their iconic body lines when Chevrolet introduced the completely redesigned C2 body in 1963. Not only did the Corvette get its "Stingray" look, it also began to be offered in two body styles, the original Convertible as well as a coupe (split window in 1963). As the 60s progressed, so did the performance options available such as bigger engines, independent suspension, and 4 wheels disc brakes, among other things. Stylistically, not much changed for the Corvette in 1966 in part to an already gorgeous design. Of course, Chevrolet made some minor changes to the front end with a new-look grille and updated "Corvette" script on the hood. Chevy also added backup lights as standard equipment on the Corvette in 1966, incorporated into the rear inboard taillight housing. In total, Chevrolet built 17,762 Corvette Convertibles in 1966 which made up less than 1% of Chevrolet's overall production. This particular '66 Corvette was purchased new at Degnan Chevrolet in Philadelphia and most recently spent over 20 years in the collection of an east coast based collector who clearly enjoyed the car while serving as its steward over 2 decade long owner. A numbers matching 327 cubic inch V8 engine fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor powers this C2 'Vette and was said to have produced 300 horsepower when new. The numbers matching 327 V8 is backed by a 4 speed manual transmission that makes this classy Corvette an absolute blast to drive! Exhaust exits the 300 horsepower powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that generates a terrific throaty sound out of the tailpipes. This 1966 Corvette Convertible comes loaded with fantastic options! Riding on a set of Goldline Radial Tires mounted on a Finned Knock-Off wheels, this '66 Corvette has a superb look and even better ride. Speaking of tires, you'll be able to keep the rubber to the pavement when cruising in this Corvette since it is equipped with a positraction rear differential that makes for a much more enjoyable driving experience. Bringing this '66 Corvette Convertible to a complete stop is much easier since it comes outfitted with disc brakes in all four corners. The white vinyl convertible top looks to be brand new and provides a beautiful contrast with the exterior look of the car. The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of this 'Vette is in fantastic condition and is another highlight of this Chevy. The iconic fiberglass body has been refinished in beautiful Milano Maroon paint that caps off the exterior appearance of this wonderful American sports car. The interior of this 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is absolutely gorgeous! The black bucket seats have been correctly reupholstered and are quite comfy! The black carpeting, matching door panels, center console, and teakwood steering wheel are all in fantastic condition as well, all of which look to be almost brand new and remain in their stock configuration. The instrument cluster comes fully loaded as well, equipped with a 160 MPH speedometer, 7,000 RPM tachometer, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge, and fuel gauge. The dash is finished off with a clock, locking glovebox, and AM/FM radio w/ power antenna, all of which are wonderful additions on any classic muscle car. Whether you're buying your very first classic car or you're adding to your existing collection of classic Corvettes, this 1966 Chevrolet Corvette would make an excellent choice.
