These New Old Stock Vintage Karolton Klasp Manila Envelopes are most likely from the late 1950s to mid-1960s and were recently found in a very old St. Louis estate. The company used the name "Karolton Klasp" as a branding choice which was commonly used from the 1940s-1960s when this company was most active, however, the company trademark KAROLTON was registered in the U.S. for various envelopes and paper products and first used commercially around 1925.
The company also used “Safety seam gumming” which appears most often in post-WWII office supply marketing, especially 1950s–early 60s, when manufacturers emphasized reliability for business use. The paper is SUB 32 (substance weight) which was widely used in the 1950s-60s before GSM became common in U.S. packaging.
