A well-thrown stoneware vase attributed to Scottish studio potter Gordon Menzies, bearing an incised GM mark and the precise date 22/5/1990 to the base. 

The globular form with everted rim carries bold gestural brushwork in iron oxide over a pale ash glaze — confidently executed and very much in the Anglo-Oriental studio pottery tradition. 

Acquired as part of a private collection alongside works by other noted British studio potters including Derek Davies and Bernard Leach so the collector knew what they were buying clearly.

8.5cm tall.
