Vehicle Description

This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS is a great looking, True Super Sport with great options including newly installed Air Conditioning! Few American cars are as instantly recognizable and admired as the 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS. Originally introduced in 1958 as a high-level trim package for Chevrolet's Bel Air, the Impala became its own standalone model in 1959 and quickly rose to the top of Chevrolet's full-size lineup. Through the late 1950s and early 1960s, Chevrolet refined the Impala's styling almost yearly, culminating in the bold, squared-off redesign of 1962 that set the stage for one of the most celebrated body styles in classic car history. A major milestone came with the introduction of the Super Sport (SS) performance package, which transformed the Impala from a stylish cruiser into a true performance-oriented machine. First offered in 1961, the SS package brought exclusive badging, special wheel covers, upgraded interiors, heavy-duty suspension and brakes, and a performance-style tachometer-features that made the Impala both luxurious and sporty. By 1964, the Chevrolet Impala SS became a distinct model, offered exclusively in two-door body styles and positioned as the most upscale and performance-focused full-size car in Chevrolet's lineup. Signature exterior cues included special side moldings, decklid trim, and the famous Chevrolet triple taillights, while the interior featured plush bucket seats trimmed in upgraded vinyl, a locking center console, and SS-specific badging throughout. Beyond its factory legacy, the 1964 Impala achieved legendary cultural status as the definitive lowrider icon. Popularized by hot-rodders in the late 1960s and embraced by lowrider culture through the 1970s, '80s, and '90s, the '64 Impala became a symbol of style and street presence. Immortalized in countless hip-hop and rap songs by artists such as Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, the 1964 Impala SS remains one of the most celebrated and collectible classic Chevrolets ever built. This particular '64 Impala SS comes to us from an East Coast collector who stewarded and enjoyed this gorgeous car for the past 25 years. Powering this '64 Impala SS is an upgraded 350 cubic inch V8 engine topped with an Edelbrock aluminum intake and an Edelbrock single 4 barrel carburetor. The small block Chevy V8 is backed by a 4 speed manual transmission that makes this early muscle car an absolute blast to drive! Exhaust exits this '64 Impala's powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that produces a charming rumble out of the tailpipes. This 1964 Chevy Impala comes absolutely loaded with fantastic options! With power steering, squeezing in and out of a tight parking space at the local drive-in or car show is a total breeze and the overall driving experience is much improved. Further aiding with parking efforts and lane changes are dual chrome outside mirrors that improve visibility down the sides of this classic Chevrolet. You'll surely keep the rubber to pavement when driving this Super Sport Impala since the rear end is equipped with positraction. Riding on a set of whitewall radial tires, each paired with a full "Spinner" Super Sport wheel cover, this 1964 Impala SS has a classy look and fantastic ride. Additionally, the rear wheels are tucked neatly behind a pair of color-matched fender skirts that are removable should you prefer the open wheel look in the rear. The body of this 1964 SS Impala has been correctly refinished in Daytona Blue paint that completes the exterior look of this fantastic classic car. The interior of this 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS is equally gorgeous! The front bucket seats along with the rear bench seat retain a wonderful stock look having been correctly restored in Blue SS upholstery. The matching door panels, blue carpeting with brand new matching floor mats, center console and steering wheel are all in great shape too and keep the stock appearance throughout the interior. You'll also be able to stay cool even on the hottest summer days since this 1964 Impala SS has been retrofitted with upgraded modern Air Conditioning. Instrumentation includes a 120 MPH Speedometer, 6,000 RPM tachometer, and fuel gauge as well as indicator lights for engine temperature and oil pressure. The dash is finished off with various controls, a locking glovebox, and also a retro-style AM/FM/Cassette entertainment system so that you can listen to all of your tunes while cruising down the road. Whether you're buying your very first classic car or you're adding to your existing collection of Chevy Impalas, this 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS would make an excellent choice.
