Turn-key!

BODY OVERVIEW:

The second-generation Barracuda styling is widely considered a high-water mark for Plymouth, and this convertible wears those lines exceptionally well. The body is accented by iconic Rallye wheels wrapped in brand-new rubber, providing the perfect aggressive-yet-period-correct stance. Underneath, evidence of professional past sheet metal repairs indicates that a previous owner took the time to address common areas of concern and "do it right," ensuring the car remains solid for years to come. On the surface, the body is straight and shows beautifully. Buyers should note that the passenger side grille insert is damaged, as seen in the photos.

PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW:

Though this is an older restoration, the red finish still holds a lustrous, impressive shine that catches the sunlight beautifully. As consistent with an older restoration, the paint is not "concours-perfect" and does show some honest character such as minor scratches/chips. Overall, the presentation is excellent and will make it a star at any local cars and coffee or cruise in. The white convertible top provides a sharp contrast to the red body, ties in beautifully with the white lower stripes, and appears to be in great condition overall.

INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW:

The cabin is a time capsule of 1960s nostalgia, featuring white vinyl bucket seats and a full center console with the iconic console shifter. The interior highlights include a factory tachometer and an added aftermarket fuel gauge for accuracy. Other features include power convertible top controls for effortless transition from coupe to open-air, a factory AM radio, and of course, cold air conditioning. While the interior is in great overall condition, the front seats and armrests show some signs of aging and minor wear, which is simply the result of a car that wasn't restored yesterday. Much like the exterior, overall, the presentation is great-that white vinyl interior is the perfect contrast to the bright red exterior!

MECHANICAL OVERVIEW:

Power is provided by the venerable 318ci V8, featuring a dual exhaust system that gives this fish a proper muscle car growl. The mechanical suite is remarkably complete for a 1968 model, featuring power steering and power drum brakes for a comfortable driving experience. Most impressively, the factory Chrysler air conditioning system blows cold, a feature often lost to time in many vintage convertibles. All tested functions are operational, including the power top, ensuring that the "utility" side of this classic is as strong as its "style" side. This Barracuda runs and drives wonderfully, and is ready to cruise!

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR:

You will love the fact that this is a "no-excuses" driver. It starts, runs, and cools you down in the summer heat, which is a luxury many classic car owners only dream of. The combination of the red paint, white top, and Rallye wheels is a timeless look that attracts positive attention everywhere it goes. It is a sorted, ready-to-goMopar that offers the open-air freedom of a convertible without the mechanical headaches often associated with 50-year-old machinery. Plus, you just can't beat that classic Barracuda look!

WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR:

If you are an absolute stickler for factory originality, the departure from its original green-on-green colors might give you pause. Otherwise, frankly, this car is hard to hate!

DOES IT NEED ANYTHING?

In its current state, this Barracuda needs nothing but a driver and a full tank of gas to be enjoyed. Long-term, the new owner might choose to source a replacement passenger side grille or investigate the reverse lights, but neither issue prevents the car from being driven and shown with pride today. It is truly a turn-key classic!

WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR?

This car is for the enthusiast who wants to actually drive their investment. It is perfect for the buyer who wants the classic Mopar aesthetic and V8 soundtrack but isn't interested in a six-figure trailer queen that they are afraid to leave unattended in a parking lot, even just for a minute. If you value a cool & comfortable cabin, a power top, and a car that has had the heavy lifting completed, this Barracuda is your perfect catch.
