Japanese vintage Knife from Japan "DEBA KNIFE"
Usage is for Fish and others.

Condition:

Used. Good as vintage. Because of the old and used item, the products may have a rust and damages. Occasionally, the knife is slightly bent. Please check the photos. I cleaned and sharpened up this knife by using whetstone. And now I'm satisfied with the blade condition. The blade is enough sharp to use normally though. This product has been sharpened with a medium whetstone, but the sharpness may have decreased due to storage time. This knife is sharp enough for home use, but if you want even sharper blades, you will need to sharpen it with a finishing whetstone. Please be sure to wash before use. Please watch the pictures carefully.

[ General information ]

Deba Hocho is one of the Japanese traditional knife. 
We call it Deba-Bouchou or just Deba. 
Deba is originally for fish, but recently it is also used to cut meat. 
The blade length is from about 15 cm to 50 cm. 
20 cm is an average.
The length is better to be fit to the fish size. 
There are various types of Deba knives. 
There are both double-edged and single-edged. Deba is not the only single-edged blade. 
There are right-handed and left-handed ones, but left-handed ones are rare. 
Some of the Deba knives have a heavy weight because the weight can cut bones easily. 
The Deba history starts at least before the EDO era but no detailed evidence is there.
