True 1966 First Edition / First Printing. This is the highly collectible Kodansha International debut of Takuboku Ishikawa’s Poems to Eat. This copy is "Very Complete," featuring all the original ephemera often lost over the last 60 years.
The Art: Illustrated with the celebrated modernist woodcuts of Masakazu Kuwata (later known as Masayuki Miyata).
Completeness: Includes the original red pictorial Slipcase, the rare publisher’s Obi (Belly Band), and the exceptionally scarce original publisher's tissue wrap.
Condition (VG): The book and slipcase are in excellent condition. The interior pages are Fine—bright, crisp, and clean. The original tissue wrap is present but shows authentic age-related wear and chipping at the edges/ends, as is typical for this 60-year-old material.
Format: Elegant traditional Japanese-style binding with doubled leaves.
