Dodge's halo car with no antidote, the Viper stormed into the automotive universe in time for the 1990s with its V-10 engine, side-exit dual exhaust pipes and a lack of creature comforts.
This second-generation example was made in DaimlerChrysler's Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in February 2004 and features some revisions. Finished in Viper Black, with a black folding top, the car's paint and trim are in overall very good order. The body-colored bumpers fit tightly, the engine bay is tidy and so is the cargo area. There are minor blemishes on the hood and trunk lid.
This car rolls on Michelin Pilot Super Sport radials, size 275/35ZR18 in front and 345/30R19 in back. Each one is mounted to a factory alloy wheel. The wheels and tires are in great shape.
Under the hood, the engine displacement increased from 8.0 to 8.3 liters for 2003 and along with other upgrades, the engine produced a maximum power output of 500 horsepower and 525 pounds-feet of torque! The engine is a 90º V-10 with two valves per cylinder and variable valve timing. It is backed by a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission that powers the rear wheels. Driver's convenience features include electronic climate control, power windows and power locks.
Safety equipment includes dual front airbags and anti-lock brakes.
Inside, the car's black leather interior is in very good order. The bucket seats are well-bolstered to keep the occupants in place during spirited motoring, The matching black carpeting also looks good. A meaty, three-spoke steering wheel is present, plus a wide center console and a full array of ancillary gauges. A console-mounted shifter and emergency brake lever help complete the interior.
