Retro-style Steepletone “Heartbeat” FM/MW/LW radio dating from the early 2000s. Styled to resemble a classic 1960s portable transistor model.
This radio is not currently working properly and is therefore being sold as a restoration project or for spares.
When briefly tested, I was occasionally able to hear radio stations momentarily, but they would not stay tuned in and reception quickly drifted away. As a result the radio cannot be considered functional.
The cabinet is also in well-used cosmetic condition, with much of the leatherette-style covering peeling away from the body.
Because of this, the set may appeal to someone interested in:
restoring or repairing the electronics
salvaging parts (speaker, knobs, etc.)
refurbishing the cabinet
converting the unit into a Bluetooth speaker or similar DIY project
display or prop use, especially where an aged or distressed radio may be appropriate for a particular setting.
I have not attempted any repair work and do not know what faults may be present internally. Furthermore, no mains power cable is supplied.
An original self-adhesive “Heartbeat” badge (unused), supplied with the set when new, was found inside the battery compartment. This will be included with the sale and may be used to replace the existing logo or for other restoration, DIY or creative projects.
This radio is sold strictly for the purposes of SPARES, REPAIR OR RESTORATION. No guarantee of functionality is given and it should be assumed that the item requires repair or refurbishment.
Alternatively, it could also suit use as a non-functioning prop or display piece, or for decorative purposes in a retro-themed setting.
Please only bid if you are happy to purchase the radio in its current non-working condition. Furthermore, please bear in mind that although the radio will be packaged carefully for shipping with plenty of bubble wrap and shredded paper, it is possible that further slight loss of the delicate leatherette-style covering may occur during transit or unpackaging.
