Overview

1960s Longines 33mm Manual Wind (35mm with crown, shown on a 7.25” wrist)– Full Set – Box, Booklet, Tag – U.S. Case Ref. 1200 – 19,800 bph – Vintage Dress Watch

Up for sale is a beautiful and honest 1960s Longines manual-wind dress watch, 33mm (35mm including crown), complete with original box, Longines-Wittnauer guarantee booklet, original price tag, and period insert.

This is a classic early-mid 1960s U.S. market Longines, likely sold through Wittnauer, featuring a Swiss movement in a U.S. stainless steel case (Ref. 1200).

The Watch

• 33mm stainless steel case (35mm w/ crown)

• Long angular lugs – wears larger than diameter suggests

• Manual wind, 19,800 bph

• Applied faceted dagger indices

• Dauphine hands

• Domed acrylic crystal

• “Swiss” signed dial

• Case marked “1200” and “Swiss”

Dial appears original with honest age. There is visible lacquer aging/crazing and patina consistent with a 60+ year old watch. It has not been refinished. Please review photos carefully.

Case remains sharp and unpolished to my eye, with normal wear consistent with age.

Movement & Timekeeping

The watch is currently running.

On a timegrapher:

• Best position observed: approx. +3 sec/day

• Other positions: can run as fast as +25 sec/day

• Beat error approx. 1.7 ms

• Amplitude approx. 179°

Please note: this is a 1960s manual wind watch and positional variance is expected. It has not been recently serviced to my knowledge. It runs and winds smoothly, but a service should be assumed if you are seeking peak performance. Crowns/stems of this era have been know to “unscrew” and as such, a small amount of Loctite was applied to the crown / stem union to prevent this for the next owner.

Caseback

Caseback is marked:

• “Use All Proof Wrench”

• “Swiss”

• Ref. 1200

An All Proof wrench tool is required to open the caseback. Please be aware this is not a snap-back case / or screw back - a specialized tool is required for this - most vintage watch makers/specialists will have this. Note, if you plan on swapping the crystal, then you can use your standard case separation tools as they will most likely mark up the crystal (which you intend to replace). If not, trust a professional and if you don know of any, reach out and we can get you in touch with some awesome ones!!!

Size & Wearability

33mm case; 35mm w/crown

Slim profile

Classic 1960s dress proportions

Long lugs give it strong wrist presence

If you collect vintage Longines, you know how good these early 60s manual pieces are. This is from the era when Longines was producing excellent in-house movements with proper finishing and high beat rates (for the time).

Please review all photos carefully. I’ve tried to represent the watch honestly and clearly.
