Vehicle Description

This 2000 Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary AAT Conversion is an eye-catching collectible that makes daily driving a classic car easy for anybody! The 1953 Chevrolet Corvette marked the beginning of a true American sports car legacy. This original two-seat convertible featured a lightweight fiberglass body, 235 cubic inch inline-six engine, and 2-speed automatic transmission. Though the first Corvette had a distinctive design, it lacked power and modern conveniences. Over the next 70+ years, the Corvette would evolve into one of the most iconic and sought-after performance cars in the world. Ahead of the Corvette's 50th Anniversary in 2003, Chevrolet explored special-edition prototypes-including one radical design that paid tribute to the 1953 Corvette's classic styling. While GM ultimately chose to release a tamer, limited-edition 2003 C5 Corvette with 50th Anniversary Red paint, champagne interior, and commemorative embroidery, the retro prototype didn't disappear. A former GM designer acquired the molds and founded Advanced Automotive Technologies (AAT), offering the '53 Commemorative Edition Corvette. Built on a C5 Corvette convertible chassis, this unique model featured a redesigned hood, front and rear fascias, classic round headlights, chrome bumpers, vintage-style taillights, and a diecast front grille. With a starting price of $32,500 (plus donor vehicle), AAT transformed late-model Corvettes into show-stopping retro-style classics-delivering vintage Corvette looks with the performance, comfort, and reliability of a modern C5. This particular AAT Converted Corvette comes to us from a longtime owner who throughly enjoyed the car and took great care of it during their nearly 15 year ownership. Under the hood on this '00 AAT Corvette is a Fuel-Injected 5.7 Liter LS1 V8 engine that was said to have produced 345 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque from the factory. The 5.7L LS is mated to a 4L60E 4-speed Automatic Overdrive transmission that makes for an easy and pleasurable car to drive. Exhaust exits through a wonderfully sounding exhaust setup that provides that unmistakable Corvette bite on startup and while cruising down the road. While this C5 Corvette may look like a first generation on the outside, it comes absolutely loaded with creature comforts! You'll be able to keep the rubber to the pavement while launching this gorgeous Corvette since it comes outfitted with a traction-controlled limited slip rear differential. With rack and pinion power steering, squeezing into a tight parking space at the local car show or ice cream parlor is a total breeze and turning on a dime can be accomplished with only one hand. Additionally the dual outside mirrors that are both power adjustable, so whether you're maneuvering into tight parking spot or making a simple lane change, you'll have piece of mind that nothing is in a blind spot. Slotted brake rotors on all 4 wheels combined with power-assisted brake calipers and anti-lock power disc brakes make stopping this performance machine easy as well. Riding on a set of 18 inch Coys C-5 wheels with 235/40R18 Toyos up front and 265/45R18 Toyos in the rear, this 2000 Corvette has an aggressive custom look and superb ride. The tan soft convertible top easily goes up and down, so easy in fact that it can be raised or lowered by just one person. The custom AAT body on this Corvette is finished in beautiful Torch Red paint that completes the exterior look of this fantastic Retro-styled C5 Corvette. The interior of this 2000 Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary AAT Conversion is both gorgeous and loaded! The driver's and passenger bucket seats are extremely comfortable, upholstered in two-tone Red and Shale leather and are even power adjustable. The shale door panels, matching carpeting and floor mats, center console and dash, all retain the modern look of a C5 Corvette and all present particularly well. Of course, items such as power windows and multi-speed adjustable windshield wipers are included as well, as can be expected for any car of this vintage. You'll be able to stay cool even on the hottest summer days and warm during a early autumn night, since this Corvette is is equipped with dual zone climate control, complete with a heather and Air Conditioning. While probably rarely used, this Corvette also is optioned with a front and rear defroster should you ever need it. An AM/FM/CD radio ensures that you'll be able to listen to all of your tunes while cruising. This Corvette also comes equipped with several noteworthy driver-friendly options including cruise control as well as an adjustable Heads-Up Display (HUD) system so that driver can monitor their speed as well as the engine's performance without have to take their eyes off the road. Full instrumentation includes a 200 MPH speedometer, 7,000 RPM tachometer with a 6,000 RPM redline, battery gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge, along with the C5 Corvette's Driver Information Center that is navigated with buttons to the right of the instrument cluster with information shown on the integrated digital display. If you're looking for a classic Corvette for sale with modern drivability, or a collectible 50th Anniversary Corvette, the AAT Commemorative Edition is a rare blend of timeless style and performance.
